Culinary Lavender U-pick & Demonstrations
Spend your weekend surrounded by fragrant fields of lavender in beautiful Arroyo Seco. Bring your family and friends for a relaxing day harvesting culinary lavender for your home. Plus, we will show you ways to dry your lavender for home decor, arts and crafts, baking, and more.
For those who love lavender lattes, we will show you how to make your own lavender syrup/sweetener for coffee and lattes. It's easy to make at home, and lasts in the fridge for weeks!
What is Culinary Lavender?
There are hundreds of lavender species and varietals but only a small fraction of these are suitable for the kitchen. Culinary-safe lavenders come almost exclusively from the species Lavandula angustifolia (also known as English lavender and true lavender). Of the English lavenders, only a handful of varietals, like the Royal Velvet variety grown at Lavender Creek, are preferred for their color and sweet flavor.
