Talbott Vineyards has crafted world-renowned Chardonnay and Pinot Noir in the Santa Lucia Highlands for over 40 years and in 1991 helped establish the Santa Lucia Highlands AVA. Talbott’s commitment to capturing this unique region’s terroir has never wavered.
Today, Talbott Vineyards crafts Chardonnay and Pinot Noir exclusively from their Sleepy Hollow Vineyard in Santa Lucia Highlands. Perched on an expansive benchland 12 miles from Monterey Bay, conditions at Sleepy Hollow Vineyard are ideal for growing exceptional Chardonnay and Pinot Noir - grapes develop gradual phenolic ripeness while maintaining vibrant acidity. First planted in 1972, it is the second-most northern vineyard and in one of the coolest climates of the Santa Lucia Highlands AVA.
Talbott’s Winemaker, Kamee Knutson, upholds Talbott’s legacy of meticulous craftsmanship. Kamee takes a minimal approach to winemaking, faithfully translating the fruit and terroir of Sleepy Hollow into wines while using sustainable practices that give back to the land. Our ongoing commitment to sustainability has earned us the sustainable wine growing certification from the California Sustainable Winegrowing Alliance.
With Talbott’s commitment to the Monterey region, it was only fitting to open a tasting room in the charming village of Carmel-by-the-Sea. In 2021 Talbott began welcoming guests to experience limited-production Talbott Pinot and Chardonnay in their new tasting room, nested among the quaint cottages and cobblestone streets of Carmel-by-the-Sea.
