Go Golfing – There are two 18-hole championship golf courses with sweeping views of the Monterey Bay that are now open to the public. In the past, Bayonet and Blackhorse golf courses were only open to military servicemen. Both courses are rich in tradition and have been played by PGA Tour icons such as Palmer, Watson and Nicklaus as well as several U.S. Presidents. To experience these golf courses with a military past, make a tee time here.
Visit Fort Ord – Fort Ord National Monument played an important role in our nation’s history as a training base for over one million servicemen. Today it is 86 miles of well-preserved recreation trails for the public to hike, bike or horseback ride. There are several entrances with parking lots, public restrooms and trash bins available to help keep the park unspoiled. While exploring Fort Ord, pay close attention to signs and fenced off areas. It is important to stick to marked trails to avoid damaging sensitive areas as well as entering areas deemed hazardous.
Venture off the Trails – While exploring both Fort Ord National Park and the Recreation Trail along Monterey Bay please stay on the marked paths both for your safety as well as the safety of the wildlife habitats and preservation of the native plants.
